Tom’s research and extension program focus areas are on water quality and management for container nursery production. He is particularly interested in methods to conserve water and remediate agrichemicals from irrigation return flow and other production water. Along with water quality research, he is investigating the use of RFID to facilitate precision agriculture practices for container production.
Tom has delivered over 250 presentations for scientific and industry audiences within Michigan, nationally and internationally and have over 200 scientific, extension and trade journal publications. He works primarily with the ornamental nursery industry but have worked with the greenhouse, fruit, vegetable, and Christmas tree industries related to water quality and irrigation management.
